The Scottish legal system has a long and unique history within the United Kingdom. While Scotland has shared the monarchy and legislative functions of the United Kingdom, it has always retained a separate legal system.
Since 1999, devolution has seen Scotland’s legislative system evolving under the law making powers of theScottish Parliament, leading to an increasingly distinct and changing legal environment.
Whether members choose to provide expert opinion, or are required to give evidence, the experience can be daunting.
